In less than six months after launch of NewsPoint UGC, a service for monitoring blogs and forums, NetSprint has doubled the number of sources it covers. The number of included forums has increased from 44,000 to more than 90,000, and the number of blogs from 29,000 to 70,000. At the same time, the company added new features to NewsPoint UGC to measure the outcomes of PR and marketing activities in the new media.

The statistics module can now provide evaluation of attitude of individual posts or comments and create a chart with summary of evaluations. The statistics module also comes with improved layout of charts and tables.

Another important change in the reporting features is the ability to create a list of articles in the CSV file (which can be easily converted into the Excel format). Currently NewsPoint UGC provides two versions of the CSV list: basic (with such fields as: date, time, title, length of post in characters, name of a forum or a blog, category it is assigned to, link to the post and its author), and expanded (all fields from the basic list plus an excerpt from a forum or a blog). The lists also group posts from a single thread in a forum or a blog’s post with its comments if they all include a given keyword.

Supporting PR and marketing activities, NewsPoint is also now offering a new report type called “Consumer opinions analysis”, prepared on the basis of content from blogs and forums. By analyzing and classifying opinions, the report provides an overview of online conversations around a given brand, company, product or service (or a full category of services). Results of such research help discover unsolicited opinions shared by consumers.

Additionally, a new quality assurance tool has been introduced which – contrary to competing monitoring solutions – is capable of automatically detecting changes in websites, such as adding new pages or changing link structure. Such changes cause gaps in the monitoring. Therefore, in case of solutions for monitoring online content, advanced quality assurance, allowing detection of greater number of articles, is of great importance.
